Before continuing to interview world-wide LMS leaders, this week we take a pause with a very interesting Open Source LMS: eFront.

eFront is one of these LMSs (such as Dokeos and Chamilo) which be launched very quickly and which provides a very user-friendly interface. As Dokeos, eFront is based on a mixed-model, with an Open Source version of its LMS and some commercial releases, supported by a Greek company: Epignosis LTD.

This week, an interview that you are numerous to have been expecting after the publications and discussions that have animated the blogosphere around the creation of Chamilo by a former developer of Dokeos.

After the interview of Mr Thomas De Pratere from Dokeos, it seemed natural that I should receive Yannick Warnier, ex-Dokeos and initiator of the Chamilo project, in order to get to know more about the substance, leaving behind the polemical aspects and human factors related to the end of any common adventure.

After Cornerstone, Dokeos and IMC, we proceed with our series of interviews by turning our attention on the side of the French vendors. Today, a vendor who keeps on advancing nationally and internationally, namely e-Doceo.

E-Doceo is basically and most especially renowned for its authoring tools, currently complemented by an LMS that I would have classified, in a former time, into the category “Rapid LMS”, for both its affordable characteristic and its usability around a tight functional scope. A limit which tends to be pushed further away after each version…
